Lee Hanebury Tournament Jan 27th to 29th

The Lee Hanebury Memorial Tournament is over for another year and by all reports was a resounding success.  Participants and organizers all report that they had a great time and can’t wait for the next tournament presented by the Pickering Squash Club.

Click this Link for information about the tournament.

Draws and results can all be found on the Squash Ontario Website  HERE.

An aspect that impressed me was the way our doubles participants wore matching outfits so that the referees could easily identify the team partners.  The woman usually do but this year the men were equally as fashion aware.  Here is a good example.

Thanks to Danny Paloucci and Robert Dubé.

Participants of the game of squash cover all ages.  A highlight of the matches was when 9 year old Tyson Schiele and his Dad, Craig Schiele, took to the court.  There were cheered on by all watching.

Another highlight of the weekend was the annual CALCUTTA on Saturday evening following the regular matches.  Congratulations to J.P. Lambert and Kevin Cahill who were victorious.  Here’s the final winning shot.  Click the link to see the video   JP_&_Kevin_C_at_Calcutta

Thank you to Nicole and her team of PSC members who put on a terrific weekend again this year.  Thank you to all participants and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

THE CLUB HAS A NEW BAR!

With the woodworking expertise of John Whyte, Fred Dizig and Terry Bruce, and the financial help of Noor Zabir,  the CLUB now has a new (refurbished) bar.

You can see it in action this weekend at the Lee Hanebury Memorial Tournament from Friday (27th) to Sunday (29th).   Stop by and have a drink while enjoying some great squash.

John Whyte has also built a beautiful Oak Stand Up Table for the bar area.  Thank you John for your work on this.

Pickering Squash Shows It Has Heart With Toys Donated To Those Less Fortunate

The Fun Tournament held on December 13th was a great success and a good time was had by all. Thank you to Steve Dizig and his Social Committee for putting on a great evening.

More important than the fun was the pile of toys that were donated for those less fortunate.

Steve was honoured to be the one to deliver the pile of toys to the Durham Children’s Aid Society on our behalf.  Steve managed to get them all there even though he was dying to keep some of them to play with himself.

Great job Steve.  We all thank you for your work on our behalf.
