Unlock the Full Squash Experience: Why Join Our Club?
Whether you’re just getting into squash or looking to play more often, joining the club gives you instant access to friendly matches, organized play, and a built-in community. It’s the easiest way to stay active, meet others, and keep your game going.
Always Have Someone to Play With
Whether you’re a total beginner or a longtime player, we help match you with others at your skill level — through house leagues, drop-ins, or round robins.
Play More Consistently
No more chasing games or waiting on group chats or trying to find the motivation to get moving. Once you’re in, there’s a built-in rhythm to your week — especially with our organized leagues.

Play Your Way
Whether you want structured leagues, casual drop-ins, social doubles, or high-level interclub play, there’s something for every schedule and skill level.
It’s More Than Just a Game
Nights out, friendly banter, sideline chats — squash is even better when there’s a social side. Whether you want to compete or just connect, you’ll find your people here.
Your Two-Part Membership
Becoming a member of our club is a two-step process that gives you access to a dedicated squash community along with the benefits of a full-service recreation complex. Here’s what it requires to get started:
Step: 1
Hold a Rec Centre Squash Membership
To participate in club activities, you’ll need a valid squash membership with the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex. Membership includes pre-paid court fees, as well as access to the gym, track, pool, sauna and hot tub.

Step: 2
Join the Pickering Squash Club
$40/year
Your club membership gives you access to our leagues, ladders, socials, and club tournaments — plus a welcoming community of players. Club fees are separate from the rec centre membership.

FAQs
Here are some common questions about our Pickering Squash Club Membership.
I live outside of Pickering (in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Toronto, or Markham). Can I still join your squash club?
Yes, absolutely! We actively welcome and have dedicated members from across the Durham Region and Greater Toronto Area. While we are the Pickering Squash Club, our vibrant community draws players from:
- The entire Durham Region, including Oshawa, Whitby, and Ajax.
- East Toronto areas like Scarborough.
- Even farther west from Markham and other parts of Toronto.
Why Players Travel to Pickering:
Players choose our club because we offer a truly unique squash experience:
- A Squash Club, Without the Private Club Costs: Our unique hybrid model provides a structured, competitive, and social club environment without the high initiation fees or restrictive costs of a traditional private club. This affordability allows many players still active at other clubs to join us for a secondary, premium experience.
- Unrivaled Community & Active Leagues: Join a genuinely inclusive and friendly atmosphere with highly-organized House Leagues and Competitive Teams. We offer structured play for all levels, ensuring you always find a fun and fair match and connect with other players quickly.
- The Best of Both Worlds: Located within the Pickering community recreation complex, we offer excellent facilities and a social atmosphere that builds lasting friendships on and off the court.
If you are looking to join a welcoming, dedicated squash community in the Durham Region/East Toronto, you belong here. We are the Premier Dedicated Squash Community for players across the area!
What’s the difference between the Rec Centre squash membership and the club membership?
The Rec Centre squash membership is required to access the courts — it’s managed separately by the City, and you can visit their website for full details on pricing and options.
Without a club membership, you’ll need to find your own partners, arrange your own matches, and work around club-blocked times (often prime time). A club membership at just $40 on top of the rec membership gives you access to organized round robins, drop-ins, house leagues, team practices, interclub teams, — most held during prime-time court slots reserved for club members — squash socials, and more.
How much does club membership cost?
Our membership runs annually at $40 per year and we keep costs low thanks to our volunteer-run model.
How do I pay for a Pickering Squash Club membership?
You can send us an e-transfer to membership @ pickeringsquash.com.
How do I join a house league or program once I’m a member?
When you register for membership, there are also options to choose what house leagues you are interested in or if you are interested in being a sub. If you have already registered and didn’t select the house league options, please talk to Nicole Pirko. We’ll also list upcoming programs on the website. Alternatively, show up on a house league day and ask any of the members and they will be sure to point you in the right direction.
I’m new or just getting back into squash. Will I be matched with players at my level?
Absolutely. We group players by skill and experience whenever possible — especially in singles house leagues. For beginners we may also have clinics and drop-in sessions. Many members start as beginners or return after a long break.
How will I stay informed about leagues, events, or schedule changes?
We send regular updates by email and post announcements on our website and at the courts. Once you join, you’ll be looped in.
What if I’m not competitive? Can I still join?
100%! Some members love the competition, others just want regular matches and friendly rallies. Some members are just looking for beginner players to learn with. There’s space for all kinds of players here.
How do I get started once I join?
You can check our website to see what’s happening at any time, and use our contact form if you would like to reach out to someone. You can also just jump in right away or ease into it, or just come out to watch — no pressure.
