What a great night for our club and the greater community! We are thrilled to announce that all the incredible toys donated by our generous members during our Annual Toy Drive Squash Night on Thursday, December 11th, were delivered to the Durham Children’s Aid Society (CAS) the very next morning!
A Decade of Giving
Jackie from the CAS was absolutely thrilled with our contribution to their efforts to bring happiness to children and families in need this Christmas. She asked us to extend their deepest thanks to every one of you. We’re proud to share that this has become a cherished tradition, with Steve Dizig estimating this is close to our 10th year of giving! A huge thank you to everyone who helps keep this amazing tradition alive.
More Than Just a Game
While the squash on the night was a fun opportunity to mix up partners and play with members we don’t often get on court with, the true success of the evening lay far beyond the points. It was a chance to connect as a community and step into a leadership role within our society.
This event is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the most important thing we can do as a club is to come together for a cause that matters so much more than just our sport. It was an opportunity to set an example, demonstrating the kind of generosity and community spirit we value in our members.
Strengthening Our Club Community
A big part of this night is the strength we find in our collective action. We value every member of our club, and coming together at this time of year—whether to play, donate, or simply socialize—strengthens the bonds that make our club special.
We loved seeing so many faces out—whether you were tearing it up on the court, stopping by just to drop off a donation, or joining us afterward for drinks and snacks! Seeing members dedicate their time and resources, even those who came out purely for the social aspect, shows the true heart of our community.
A special and heartfelt thanks to:
- The Organizers and Managers who made the night run smoothly.
- Steve Dizig for organizing the logistics with the Children’s Aid Society, with help from Fred Dizig.
- Every member who donated and participated.
Thank you for helping us make a real difference in the lives of local children this holiday season. Let’s make next year’s event the biggest and best one yet!
