It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our good friend and fellow squash player, Ian Parsons. Ian died in a tragic accident at his farm on Monday March 25, 2019.
Ian was a long time member of the Pickering Squash Club serving on the executive eighteen times, nine of which were as President. He was the 1997-1998 recipient of the Chris Doona Award. He is most notably remembered as the driving force that guided the Club during the planning and construction of the Doubles Squash Courts. His hard work over a ten year period resulted in the opening of the courts in 2009.
Ian will be greatly missed by all who came in contact with him on and off the court. He was always a gentleman willing to help anyone learn and improve at the game he loved so much.
Recent SNOW DAYS have resulted in the cancellation of Doubles House League, once on Monday January 28th for DIV2 and once on Tuesday February 12th for DIV1.
To make up the matches missed on these days we are extending the Winter season by one week. The matches originally scheduled for Monday January 28th will be played on Monday March 4th. The matches originally scheduled for Tuesday February 12th will be played on Tuesday February 26th. Below are the revised schedules.
NOTE: The schedule for DIVISION 3 has not changed (Yet).
The Lee Hanebury Annual Tournament concluded on Sunday (Feb 3, 2019) and by all accounts was a resounding success. Everyone had a great time and a tremendous amount of top quality squash (both Singles and Doubles) was played.
Our resident photographer extraordinaire has compiled a slide show of pictures from the Tournament. You can access that show Here:
The Shindig Tournament was a great success with everyone having a great time. Unfortunately a number of people could not play on the Saturday Semi and Finals. We thank all those wonderful people who stepped in and subbed.
Yes the Shindig tournament is back and if you were on the ball (Squash Ball that is) you managed to get one of the coveted spots in the Draw. Play starts at 6:00 PM on Tuesday April 17th in the Doubles Courts. Check for your start times below. If you didn’t get a spot in the Tourney, we can always use SUBs. Contact Nicole, Terry or John and tell them you want to SUB.
