Squash Canada and the Squash Doubles Officiating Committee have adopted a document created by Tony Swift outlining “The Spirit of the Game” . This references Doubles Squash but is just as valid for Singles Squash players as well. Please have a look at the attached PDF file.
On Behalf of the City of Pickering we wish to announce that the Recreation Complex will be closed for the next three weeks. As a result all Pickering Squash Club programs, leagues and events will be postponed until further notice.

The City of Pickering will be implementing social distancing measures advised by the World Health Organization. All programs, facility permits, and events have been cancelled, and Community Centres will be closed from March 13, 2020 at 4:30 pm until April 5, 2020 (inclusive). Recreation Complex Memberships will be extended for the full period that the facility is closed. All fees paid for facility bookings will be refunded. All Winter Programs including Aquatics, Leisure will be credited for cancelled classes. There will not be a make-up class(s) March Break Camps will be refunded. Big Band Event ticket holders may bring their ticket to the original purchase location between April 6 and April 24 to receive a refund. Program Registration – Spring Registration scheduled to start March 24 and March 26 is currently under review and start date is to be determined City public events will be cancelled from March 13, 2020 at 4:30 pm until April 5, 2020 (inclusive). Please note that all Pickering Public Library Branches, Don Beer Arena, CHD Recreation Complex, and Pickering Museum Village are also included in this closure.

Our Lee Hanebury Memorial Tournament is over for another year and by all accounts it was a roaring success. From the first matches on Friday evening to the Calcutta and Pub night on Saturday and ending with the finals on Sunday, everyone had a great weekend of sport and camaraderie.

I would like to invite you all to participate in the Pickering Squash Club’s annual Lee Hanebury Memorial Tournament on the weekend of Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2020. This is a tournament weekend you do not want to miss! Tournament events include Men’s and Women’s singles events levels A-E (This means everyone at every level can play), as well as Doubles Men’s and Women’s B and C draws. Women may play both singles and doubles (only required to pay one entry fee) but due to limited court time and larger men’s draws, men may only play one event. Your entry fee includes a great tournament souvenir, licensed bar, Saturday breakfast and lunch, Saturday night doubles Calcutta followed by a social night at our local restaurant and lots of squash. You must register on the Squash Ontario website at: https://www.squashontario.com/tournaments-editor/2020/1/31/lee-hanebury-memorial-tournament The sign up deadline is Sunday Jan. 26th but please sign up early to avoid disappointment as some draws may fill up fast! We had yet another successful Harvest Hit doubles squash tournament at the Pickering Squash Club this past weekend with over 35 teams from all over the GTA. Players with a wide range of experience from “professional” to “first time doubles tournament player” all running around the doubles court chasing that little blue ball yelling “mine”, “yours”…
Every player that participated agrees how much fun this sport is and they are already securing a partner and marking off the next event on their calendars.

The Harvest Hit Doubles Tournament event was a great success again this year at the Pickering Squash Club. Nicole ran a great tournament with the help of many Pickering Squash Club members who gave their time over the weekend.
The Fall doubles House League will commence on Monday October 1st with Division 2 followed on Tuesday October 2nd with Division 1 and Wednesday October 3rd with Division 3.
